About the artist
Art has always been an obsession. I find it totally absorbing and fulfilling. It uplifts the spirit - I am never happier than when I am creating. Fellow artists will understand how I feel.
I went down an academic route in higher education rather than going to art college. But I never stopped doing art in my spare time. I began screenprinting at the Mary Ward Centre in Central London in the 1980s, with oil-based inks and toxic fumes filling the studio.
In the 1990s, an overseas work placement took me to Australia and I decided to try my hand at life-drawing. I reckoned that if I could capture not just the human figure but the spirit of the person, then I could draw and paint just about anything. Iām still trying!
For more than a decade I have been a member of Hesketh Hubbard Art Society, which is part of the Federation of British Artists. Most Fridays I am at Mall Galleries in central London, drawing and painting wonderful models, surrounded by inspiring artists. If you are ever interested in joining us, you can find more details at Hesketh Hubbard Art Society
I also love painting landscapes en plein air. There is so much to see and paint in London, but it is also an excuse to go travelling. In the past couple of years I have taken my paints and brushes to Canada, Cyprus, Malta and Romania. What a privilege!
I am a trustee at the Federation of British Artists and contribute to the oversight and strategic leadership of Mall Galleries. You can find out more about the FBA societies at Visual Arts Charity led by artists, for all | Mall Galleries
My work has been shown in a number of exhibitions. In the past few years:

Eye Candy at the Rabbet Gallery and Drawing Humans at the X,Y,Z Gallery (2024)
